Borgia Winebar+Spirits
Calle Caballeros, 8 46001 València
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
We fell in love with a small establishment on Calle Caballeros de Valencia, right at the crossroads with Calle de los Borja. A venue in the Peris building by the most emblematic Valencian modernist architect: José María Manuel Cortina Pérez. In the heart of the Carmen neighbourhood, the emblematic Cap i Casal neighbourhood, we are committed to excellent proposals. Our wine bar is a tribute to the Borja or Borgia family (they Latinised it when they settled in Italy). Without a doubt the most important and powerful family in Valencia, so often unfairly treated by history. A family that managed to place 2 of its members on the “throne of Saint Peter” in the 15th century, had a woman who exercised power (Lucrecia Duchess of Ferrara), had a saint (Saint Francesc de Borja) and had several viceroys in Spanish America. An era, the Golden Age of Valencia, exciting with schisms in the church, the loss of Constantinople, crusades, the discovery of America, the voyage around the world… An era where at the same time as kings, princes and popes were forging alliances for war, they sponsored artists of the stature of Michelangelo, Rafael, Leonardo da Vinci… We are a small wine bar with a large “medieval banquet” style table where we all share a table to share experiences enjoying the best wines of Spain and a delicatessen gastronomic proposal of excellent quality. A small bar where a prince of the Renaissance could dine.
