Valencia launches the third high-speed rail connection with Madrid with the operator Iryo

Madrid and Valencia have never been so close. Thanks to the entry of companies such as the Spanish-Italian entity Iryo, which is starting now; the French company Ouigo, which began operating recently; and the Spanish firm AVLO from Renfe, it is now possible to travel by high-speed train between Madrid and Valencia in less than two hours at a more affordable price.  

This new rail transport service helps make the price of high-speed transport more competitive and makes it easier for the public to travel by offering more trains. The first step was to link Valencia with the capital in under two hours and with prices as low as 7 euros for adults (AVLO), 9 euros (Ouigo) and 18 euros (Iryo). The ticket price is flexible, depending on the advance purchase and train availability.  

The deregulation of the high-speed rail network means a change in the image of the destination, both nationally and internationally, positioning it as a tourist destination with infinite possibilities. And Valencia's low-cost connection to Madrid, with help from Ouigo, AVLO and Iryo, is an added incentive for arriving visitors.  

More sustainable transport

Moreover, the arrival of these new companies and the ensuing drop in prices is, at the same time, a commitment to sustainability and tourism. More competitive fares undoubtedly incentivize the use of trains, a less polluting means of transport than private vehicles, while also making destinations such as Valencia more accessible to young (and not-so-young) visitors.  

Iryo is offering 16 weekly trains - which join the 42 of AVLO and 70 of Ouigo - to connect the Joaquín Sorolla Station in Valencia with the Chamartín Clara Campoamor Station in Madrid.  

High-speed travel will no longer be a luxury 

The AVE (Spanish High-Speed) network, which entailed an investment of more than 60 billion euros, is the largest in Europe and will surpass 4,000 kilometers in length by year's end with the extension of the AVE to Murcia. Undoubtedly a competitive advantage when it comes to attracting both national and international tourists.  

Seville and Galicia just around the corner 

For the moment, the new high-speed operators have opted for the Madrid-Valencia route, which opens on December 16, with potential new connections with the Valencian capital on tap.  

Madrid-Barcelona and Madrid-Seville are other routes that the new companies already have in their portfolio, which will add Galicia in 2026.  

And so, thanks to these new and more affordable connections, Valencia's tourist appeal is growing at high speed.
