Complaints for foreign tourists service from the national police
Although Valencia is one of the safest cities in the world, it is useful to know how to report a crime or incident in case you do get robbed or lose something while you are on holiday here.
There are three ways to report a crime or incident to the National Police:
1. By phone: 902 102 112
Available in English from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday, and in French, German and Italian, every day from 9am to 3pm.
You can report:
Theft or Burglary
- From/of a vehicle
- At home, establishments or offices
Robbery
Of documents and/or effects
Loss
- Of documents and/or effects, if it is compulsory to report them (documents, numbered objects or with a serial number, etc.)
- Damages
- Robbery with violence and/or intimidation (if it happens in a public street)
Fraud
- Bank card fraud
- Simple fraud, if it is not a highly complex case.
Theft with force in things and theft
- Of vehicles or inside
- At home, establishments or offices
Please note:
- You cannot report by phone crimes or incidents that require fast police intervention, or crimes that cause physical injury, or in general crimes or incidents that require special consideration at the police station due to their serious or complex nature, or specific circumstances.
- After reporting by phone, you will have to go to the National Police station within 48 hours to confirm and sign the report to make it valid. You will be given priority as much as possible.
- Depending on the crime or incident you have reported, you must bring the following documents to the police station:
- IMEI numbers or serial numbers of the reported or stolen effects or items.
- Medical report if there are injuries.
- For card fraud you will need to provide your bank card number, as well as a bank statement that shows the transactions you have reported or a printed online banking statement.
- In general, any type of necessary document or detail connected with the crime or incident that has been reported and that may be required for further police investigation.
2. Online:
You can report a crime or incident here. It is available in English, French, Italian and German.
Please note that you will not be able to report a crime if:
- There has been physical violence or intimidation
- You know the perpetrator or if you could physically recognise them
- You are aware of the presence of witnesses
- You are under 18 years of age
- The crime is being committed at this moment, as you must report it immediately by calling 091 or 112
- It is a violent or sexual crime
3. In person at the "Oficinas de Denuncias y Atención al Ciudadano (O.D.A.C.)" offices
