The Luis Puig Velodrome will be the main venue for the competition

A new international sports event is added to the competition calendar of the city of Valencia: the European Indoor Athletics Championships in 2027. The competition will have the Luis Puig Velodrome as its venue, which already hosted this competition in 1998 and the World Championships in 2008. In addition, the project includes the Feria de Muestras and the Turia Stadium as complementary facilities, as well as the municipal athletics track of Paterna, for warm-up and training.

Valencia thus consolidates its position as a sports tourism destination, reinforced by reference infrastructures and extensive experience in organizing international sports events.

As the crown jewel of events organized by European Athletics, the European Athletics Championships held every two years showcase the best that the continental branch of this sport has to offer. The Luis Puig Velodrome, with a capacity of over 4,000 spectators, is set to be a fantastic option to enjoy the best live athletics. This year's edition takes place in Rome from June 7th to 12th.

The announcement of Valencia as the host city for the European Athletics Championships comes as the city prepares to host the Ironman 70.3 Valencia, one of the toughest triathlon events in the world. The hockey pre-Olympics was another of the international events that took place in Valencia in 2024. This year, the city will once again host the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Marathon and Half Marathon events, the Triathlon World Cup, the group stage of the Davis Cup, and, as a novelty, the Fia Motorsport Games and the basketball pre-Olympics.
