Valencia celebrates Las Fallas 2025

Valencia | 13.01.2025 | 11:26

The Ninot Exhibition, mascletàs (firecracker displays) from a balcony and guided tours with access to Las Fallas organised by the Federation of the Special Branch mark the start of the festivities.

Valencia is beginning to feel the build-up to Las Fallas 2025, which has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity event and is widely considered to epitomise Valencian culture.

Although the big week takes place between the 15 and 19 March, the Fallas schedule has got underway with a range of activities to get everyone in the party spirit. The Ninot Exhibition and the mascletàs (firework displays) signal the start of the festivities, while the official start of the celebrations, the Crida, will take place on 3 March.

Las Fallas 2025 Highlights

  • Ninot Exhibition: the traditional Fallas exhibition brings together a selection of ninots that aspire to be pardoned and preserved in the Fallas Museum, instead of being consumed by the flames in the Cremà. Visitors can vote for their favourite ninot and decide which ones will be saved from the fire. The exhibition will be open from 31 January to 15 March at the Science Museum, located in the City of Arts and Sciences.

  • Daily mascletà: from 1 to 19 March, the Town Hall Square will be the stage for the mascletà every day at 2pm. Based on a progressive sequence of detonations, this firework display culminates in a final, extremely loud bang, making it one of the most iconic events of the Fallas. Attendance levels are high, although during the first days of the month and on working days, there are fewer people. Those looking for a different experience can book private balconies with direct views of the event.

  • La Crida: on 23 February at 7:30 pm the Falleras Mayores of Valencia will make their traditional call to citizens and visitors to join in the Fallas celebrations from the Torres de Serranos. The event will feature a fireworks display and live music. Before that, there will be a mascletà in the Town Hall Square at 2 pm.

  • Night-time firework displays: besides the daytime mascletàs, night-time firework displays will be held at the Town Hall Square at weekends, emphasising the importance of gunpowder as a central element of the festival.

Visits should be planned in advance, given the scale of the event. Guided tours are a particularly good option, giving visitors the chance to see the main fallas monuments and learn more about the historical and artistic details of the festival. You can also purchase exclusive tickets for the Fallas of the Special Branch, where the city's most outstanding commissions are located.
