What’s included
This guided walking tour through the heart of Valencia leads you on a journey to discover the city's identity through its culture, architecture, local commerce and traditions.
It lasts two hours and you can get swept away, pay attention to the guide and admire the wonders of the historic centre of Valencia, from the Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange, a World Heritage Site) to the small squares of the historic centre, full of shops selling local crafts and fashion.
This is what the activity includes:
-
Two-hour guided walking tour through the centre of Valencia, starting at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento square and ending at the Plaza de la Virgen square, led by an attentive guide.
-
Entrance to the Lonja de la Seda.
-
Official guide in English and Spanish.
-
Accessible for people with reduced mobility.
-
A journey through the city's history and personality. The route includes: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Mercado Central, Lonja de la Seda, Plaza del Doctor Collado, Plaza Redonda, Plaza Lope de Vega, Iglesia de Santa Catalina, Mercado de Tapinería, Plaza de la Reina, Plaza de la Almoina, Plaza de la Virgen.
From start to finish, your guide takes you back to the golden age in each of the streets, squares or monuments, explaining why it is important and what it represents for the city. For example, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento square, your starting point, you will understand what the Fallas festival means to the Valencians.
Its modernist architecture leads you through charming historic streets to the magnificent Central Market, one of the jewels of the city and the focal point of local gastronomy. A few metres away is the Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange), a World Heritage Site, whose unique architecture you will discover by strolling through its interior before coming out onto the Plaza del Doctor Collado square.
From there, colourful alleyways, small squares where time seems to stand still and charming local boutiques, resisting in a world that is becoming increasingly less authentic. The vintage fashion of the Tapinería Market or the ceramics made with local techniques (carrat or trencadís) of the Plaza Redonda square represent the living image that Valencia has history, personality and a lot to say to whoever is willing to listen.
