Regional dances in the streets of Valencia

History, tradition, and dance fill the exhibitions of Valencian regional dances performed by the Fallas commissions in "Balls al Carrer," a series of typical dances through the streets and squares of Valencia.

These traditional dances, to the rhythm of dolçaina and tabalet, which are the Valencian names for the shawm and drum, have a ritual character associated with festive days and are a display of rhythm and coordination.

They consist of a procession or parade of couples led from the front or the back, dressed in regional costumes.

These duos take the shape of the place where they dance: elongated if it is in a street, or round if it is in a square.

Once in position, they follow the rhythm of the tabal, and when the dulzaina begins to play, they start moving and shifting to the melody.

With "Balls al Carrer," you have a perfect opportunity to get to know Valencian costumes and the music of typical Valencian instruments up close.
