Classical, Baroque, Jazz and Fado music at CaixaForum

The new program of the musical Season Series of CaixaForum Valencia is here. From February 4 to April 21, we will have four live concerts with outstanding performers from different parts of the world, and engaging shows that span a wide range of musical genres.

It will begin on February 4 with the performance of the Accademia del Piacere, a group that will revive the world of improvisation of 1600s Spain, as it strives to create differences and fantasies involving the masterpieces of the Spanish Renaissance and early Baroque.

Then, on February 25, Júlio Resende, a Portuguese pianist and composer, will offer the public the repertoire from his latest proposition, "Fado Jazz Ensemble". With this performance, the pianist will present a surprising and original combination that lingers between fado and jazz, in a concert for piano, Portuguese guitar, percussion and double bass.

After Fado, the Bartolomey Bittmann string duo will come to CaixaForum Valencia on March 10. This Austrian group, featuring cellist Matthias Bartolomey and violinist and mandola Kelmens Bittmann, will perform pieces that fuse jazz, groove and rock elements, as well as intimate ballads. This prestigious duo stands out for embodying the musical virtues of unbridled joy and rhythmic radicalism, something not typically associated with classical instruments.

One of Scotland's most renowned and outstanding violinists and composers, Duncan Chisholm, will put the finishing touch on the new Music Season on April 21. “Black Cuillin”, his latest album, is a beautiful work inspired by the mountainous nature of the Isle of Skye and that won the award for Album of the Year 2023 at the Scottish Trad Music Awards. On this occasion, Duncan Chisholm will be accompanied by Innes Watson on guitars and Jarlath Henderson will be in charge of the bagpipes and flutes.
