Alfredo Ruiz on display at the IVAM
Categories: exhibitions.
You can now visit the exhibit “Alfredo Ruiz: paths to modernity in the fallas” at the IVAM
The experimental fallas only take place four days a year. Which is why the Valencia Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) wanted to prolong their presence in the city of Valencia with the exhibit “Alfredo Ruiz: paths to modernity in the fallas”.
This exhibit, which you can enjoy through April 23, will reveal a much closer union between the figure of the fallas artist and that of other art creators. Without forgetting that the Fallas are an essential component of the city's celebratory tradition.
Alfredo Ruiz began his career as a fallas artist back in 1982, dealing with social issues that everyone is still talking about today. Environmentalism, inequality, racism and the death penalty are great examples.
But he also made some of his fallas eternal, such as the well-known “Horizontal Poetry” for Mossén Sorell-Corona, without any ninots and which broke with the rigidity of the most admired artisan guild in the city of Valencia.
If you want to enjoy his art beyond the Night of Cremà, be sure to visit the IVAM. You can buy your ticket here.
