The Municipal Archive of Valencia - one of the oldest and most comprehensive in Europe – houses an immense collection of documents from the 13th century to the present day. A significant part of the historical and political evolution of 19th-century Spain took place in the halls of the Cervelló Palace, which became the official residence of the monarchs and illustrious figures of the time. Its famous 18th-century rooms and the Bourbon gallery have been refurbished and there are paintings by José Vergara, Vicente López and others.
