Benlluire Museum-Home
Blanquerías 23, 46003 - València
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
The house and studio of painter José Benlliure has three distinct parts; the house, (of little artistic interest), the Victorian study and the charming garden, all still bursting with romanticism. The house was bought by José Benlliure in 1912, on his return from Rome, where he had been Director of the Spanish Academy from 1903. Important changes were made at this point, notably to the garden, which was decorated in a Valencian style with limestone benches and bricked alleys; there are two simple sculptures: a bust of the artist’s father near the entrance, and one of José Benlliure himself. Inside there are pieces of Italian and Austrian furniture and paintings by Benlliure and other artists.
