Excursion to the Utiel-Requena area, with tasting in a wine cellar, a cultural visit and lunch

The first thing we will do is visit one of the wine cellars where a wine of the Utiel-Requena Denomination of Origin is produced. There we will participate in a wine tasting.

Afterwards we will make a cultural visit to the Cuevas de la Villa de Requena caves or to the Redonda Wine Museum (Utiel).

The Villa de Requena caves date from the 12th century (from the time of the Muslim occupation). They represent a unique thermal habitat, with cooler temperatures than outside in summer and warmer temperatures in winter.

These caves are the testimony of the life of the local people, their customs, their way of life. They were used as silos for storing grain and as cellars for making and storing wine.

The Museo del Vino de la Redonda (Wine Museum) in Utiel houses not only the seat of the Regulatory Committee for the Designation of Origin, but also collections of agricultural and tillage equipment, tools and utensils from wineries, a room for distilleries and an extensive exhibition of bottles.

The museum houses explanatory panels illustrating the work and cultivation of the vines to the production, ageing and bottling of the wines. The roof of the building is striking, with metal beams in a structure that simulates an open umbrella.

Finally, we will enjoy a typical meal of the region.

The menu included will be typical of the region and will consist of a first course, second course and dessert, plus 1 glass of wine/water/soft drink per person. In case you need a special menu, you must indicate it in the contact mail that we will indicate you when you make the booking.
