Log inWe will learn about the origins of Valencia through the archaeological remains of the Almoina: forum, baths, Roman streets. We will discover how the Romans lived and how much we have preserved of them, and to what extent we are still Romans.
The visit starts next to the fountain in the Plaza de la Virgen. First of all, we will enter the Almoina Archaeological Centre. In a visit that lasts about 45 minutes we will discover some interesting aspects of Roman life and customs. Next, we will enter the "Cárcel de San Vicente" where we will see the remains of the first Christian Basilica built in the Visigothic period around the site of the martyrdom of Saint Vincent. Our route continues along Barchilla, Cabillers and Avellanas streets.
Finally, we arrive at the Church of San Juan del Hospital, which preserves part of the "spina" of the Roman circus inside the medieval cemetery.
The visit includes the entrance to the Almoina Museum and the medieval cemetery of San Juan del Hospital.
Duration: 2 hours 30 min
Starting point: Plaza de la Virgen, next to the fountain.
