Valencia flooding: Everything travelers need to know about the city: airport, roads, trains, practical information

In the city of Valencia, the flooding reached the districts of La Torre, Castellar-Oliveral, and Horno d'Alcedo, located to the south of the city. The map also includes the locations of the city’s main tourist attractions.

1. Is the city of Valencia affected by flooding? Is it safe to move around Valencia?

The effects of the DANA storm in Valencia have primarily impacted the southern suburbs, including La Torre, Forn d’Alcedo, and Castellar. 

2 Can Valencia be accessed by road?

Almost all roads have reopened, but it is recommended to check the status on the official profile of the Traffic Department, the Valencia City Council’s Traffic Office or the province roads map.

3. Are urban buses running?

Yes, but there are disruptions. Please call the customer service line at +34 963158515 or check updates via WhatsApp: +34 658674920. More information is available on the official EMT Valencia website.

4. Is the metro service operational?

The tram lines L4, L6, and L8 are operating with the weekday schedule (non-school days) from Monday to Saturday and the holiday schedule on Sundays, with service to Fira València from Monday to Sunday.

Line L10 operates with the August weekday schedule from Monday to Saturday without nighttime service and follows the holiday schedule on Sundays.

All metro lines are expected to be fully restored by early December.

To replace the metro lines that have not yet been repaired, buses are covering some routes. Check all currently operating lines here.

5. Are trains running?

The high-speed service between Valencia and Madrid as well as the commuter lines C5 (València Nord-Caudiel), C6 (València Nord-Castellón), C1 (Silla_Gandía) and C2 (Carcaixent-Moixent) are already operational.

6. Are taxis available?

Yes, taxis are available. You can request one via the Free Now app or by calling Teletaxi at 963571313.

7. Is the airport accessible?

Access to the airport is possible by road by private cars, taxis, and two bus lines (both are included in Valencia Tourist Card):

Metro service is suspended.

Check your flight’s status on the official airport website or with your airline.

Airlines are working to increase frequencies for those in need of travel. Check the airline websites for the latest information.

8. Can I visit Albufera?

Yes, but access to the dock at Gola de Pujol is currently closed, and navigation on L'Albufera Lake is not allowed, as cleaning work is being carried out in the area.

9. Can I take a bus to other destinations?

All the bus companies are offering all their routes to and from Valencia, but there may be some delays.

10. Is the tourist bus running?

The city line will operate as usual, but the Albufera Tourist Bus has been cancelled.

11. Are museums open?

All museums are open.

 

12. Are tourist offices open?

Our tourist offices are open during their regular hours.

13. Are restaurants and shops open in Valencia?

Yes.

14. Is the cultural programming suspended?

All cultural venues are offering their scheduled programming. Check the Visit València agenda for all planned events.

15. If I purchased something in the Visit Valencia online shop and cannot go, what happens with my order?

16. Is the City of Arts and Sciences open?

Yes, all venues are open: Oceanogràfic, Museu de les Ciències, Hemisfèric, Caixaforum, and Palau de les Arts.

17. Is Bioparc open?

Yes.

18. Can the beaches be visited?

The urban beaches of Malvarrosa and Cabañal are not affected, nor is La Patacona in the neighboring town of Alboraya.

The beaches of Pinedo, Arbre de Gos, El Saler, Garrofera, and Devesa are closed to the public to facilitate cleaning operations.

19. Can I help those affected by the DANA storm?

If you want to offer your help in the affected neighborhoods in the city, the València City Council is coordinating all proposals through this form.

These are the collection points for clothing, food  and material organized by the València City Council and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of València:

  • La Petxina Sports and Cultural Complex: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • Zaidía Neighborhood Association: Plaza Roncesvalles, 3. 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Patraix Neighborhood Association: Plaza de Patraix, 13B. 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Nou Moles Neighborhood Association: Calle Alcalde Albors, 22. 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
