Contenido de la visita guiada
A Civil War shelter
The factory was seized and began producing ammunition in the form of mortar bombs and grenades. It therefore became a military objective by the rebels and the bombings by the Italian aviation that took place in the city of Valencia, especially between 1937 and 1938. It is precisely at that time that this anti-aircraft shelter of the type was built. manufacturing.
A medieval winery
To talk about this winery we have to name the old Comeig farmhouse under which it was located. These types of farmhouses that dotted the old paths of the Marxalenes orchard, witnessed the industrial development and growth of the city. The underground winery dates back to a renovation carried out in the farmhouse around the year 1500 and was conceived as a space for the production and storage of wine. The winepress was located on the ground floor of the farmhouse, from which a circular pond for treading the grapes has been recovered. Below this, the easily visible cellar was built under the vault that appeared after the excavations.
A historic complex and a complete garden
Designed by Gustavo Marina, the garden is considered another art space within the complex. Located in the backyard of the factory, it is conceived as the end of the museum tour, an intimate place of reflection and necessary rest where to assimilate what has been seen inside.
It is related to two artistic movements: Romanticism-Modernism typical of the building and in the Site group (Sculpture in the environment, whose motto is that art and architecture nourish each other) of the 70s and in terms of the vegetal palette , inspired by Alfonse Mucha (the 4 seasons), Mediterranean version.
It is a lively, happy, colorful garden whose composition of trees and shrubs creates tensions and drama. The trees are of three types: citrus (orange, lemon), exotic (jacaranda, ficus, Jupiter tree) and dry Valencian (carob, olive, pomegranate). The garden has a continuous and adaptable exposed cobblestone pavement, similar to that of the architectural complex. The benches are made with reused ashlars from the old factory. Don't miss the SiteSpecific work “Through” by Cristina Iglesias, which represents two curved irrigation ditches in reference to the Turia River, at the bottom of which intertwined roots of bronze bas-reliefs have been sculpted.
