Exhibition "Torna a brillar" in Valencia

Categories: exhibitions.

Discover the restoration of the Cadafal of the Virgin of the Forsaken with this exhibition, available at the Almudín of Valencia.

The Almudín hosts the exhibition "Torna a brillar. Restauració de la Mare de Déu de l'Ofrena" from May 9 to July 31, 2024.

The figure of the Virgin of the Forsaken, patron saint of the city, and her cadafal are central to the floral offering that takes place during the two days of Fallas every year. It represents Mary holding the baby Jesus and has its origins in a brotherhood founded in the 15th century. Over the years, the figure showed signs of aging, with cracks, missing ornaments, and faded colors. But for Fallas 2024, it has been completely restored, making it look like new.

If you want to see the result, you can view the entire process and appreciate the great work of the restorers in person at the Almudín. The exhibition also includes old photographs, newspaper clippings, magazine covers, illustrations, and unique pieces by Lladró or Pedro Arrúe.
