Exhibit “The Port of Valencia in the Golden Age”
Categories: exhibitions.
TOURISTIC AREA: Sea towns, Marina and beaches
The Port Authority of Valencia invites you to learn about the economic, cultural and social impact it had on the city in the 15th century
The story goes that "Valencia's Golden Age" marked a turning point in the city thanks to the port's location in the Mediterranean.
The exhibit showcases products, trade routes, the structure of the Port, navigational instruments in the 15th century and artistic trends from the golden age.
It also has four sections that will transport you to medieval Valencia:
1. Sailing and trading on the Mediterranean, which explains the trade routes and the main export and import products.
2. Vilanova del Grau de la Mar, explaining this town's role in supplying and defending the port.
3. The cultural splendor of the city, dedicated to showing the main trading activity, the cultural exchange promoted by maritime communication and commerce, and the printing press as an influential piece in the dissemination of culture.
4. The past and present of the city of Valencia, showing a current map with places and buildings from the Golden Age and how they are used today.
If you want to take a free trip back in time, you can do so every day from April 22 to June 11, including holidays, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm in the Edificio del Reloj (Clock Building).
