The Etnomúsic festival returns to Valencia with its 21st edition

The Etnomúsic festival, an icon of local and international folk music, returns to Valencia to celebrate its twenty-first anniversary.

From May 11 to September 22, L’ETNO, Museu Valencià d’Etnologia, invites us to enjoy a new edition under the theme "With a Woman's Perspective."

It aligns with the museum's most important exhibition of 2024, "Fadrines," which explores the lives of women who chose not to marry and challenge the social norms of their time.

Following this inspiring theme, the festival presents a program dominated by talented women, who will show us their vision of the world through music.

Such as the promising Valencian artist La María, who will open the festival with the traditional Valencian cant, or Mayalde, a renowned traditional Spanish group that will make you relive the music of your grandparents in a very family-friendly concert.

And L'Etno's program continues with artists like Nido, who will present a compilation of Burgos jotas and ruedas, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary themes, and with Maria Mazzota, the Italian singer capable of making us travel with her tarantellas.

Starting from femininity, the intimate perspective of women will also be explored with personalities like Carola Ortiz with her album "Cantareras," and with Alba Carmona, accompanied by guitarist Jesús Guerrero, who will offer their songs blending tradition and modernity with flamenco guitar.

You will also have the opportunity to enjoy "Eixa," an innovative project by Alba Carmona and composer Isabel Latorre, which will take you to territories such as singer-songwriter, copla, bolero, or even jazz.

And the festival will not stay only at L’ETNO.

Etnomúsic will travel through the municipalities of the province with "Etnomúsic als pobles," bringing its magic to more places with the participation of artists like Karlos Nao, a young flutist who mixes flamenco with other styles and many more.
